Update Parrot Bebop 2 Software

Updating software


*Note: before flying, always make sure both FreeFlight Pro and Bebop 2 are running the most up-to-date software.


There are 2 ways to update software:


  • With FreeFlight Pro/Wi-Fi
  • With a USB cable


Via FreeFlight Pro / Wi-Fi


Connecting Wi-Fi


When connecting to Wi-Fi, do the following:


  1. Switch the Bebop 2 on and wait for the LED to stop flashing.
  2. On your smart device, search among available Wi-Fi® networks for the Bebop 2:
  • If you are using an iPhone or an iPad, select Settings > Wi-Fi > Bebop2-xxxxxx
  • If you are using an Android™ smartphone, select Settings > Wireless and networks > Wi-Fi > Bebop2-xxxxxx
  1. Wait for your device to connect to Parrot Bebop 2.
  2. Launch FreeFlight Pro.  The Parrot Bebop 2 connects to your device automatically.


Via FreeFlight Pro


  1. Follow the above steps to connect the Parrot Bebop 2 to your smart device via Wi-Fi.
  2. In FreeFlight Pro, go to  icone_menu.png  > Check for updates.
  3. Follow the on-screen direction to download updates.


Via USB/Micro-USB adapter (OTG cable)


1. Go to Parrot Bebop 2’s support page at https://community.parrot.com/t5/Bebop-2/bd-p/Bebop_2.


2. Under DOWNLOADS, click Software update to download the update file (.plf).




3. Move that file (bebop2_update.plf) to an empty USB flash drive (formatted to FAT32), and place it in the USB's root directoryDO NOT RENAME THE FILE.


4. Connect the USB flash drive to the OTG adapter, then insert it into the Micro-USB port on the Bebop 2, and then power on the drone. Bebop 2 begins updating.


5. The update is completed when the drone finishes rebooting.
