Software Update Process

There are 2 updates processes available:

  • From FreeFlight Pro
  • With a microUSB adapter or a Micro-USB memory drive (not included)
 A pop up should automatically inform you when an update is required.
If you wish to confirm the current firmware version installed on your Bebop Drone 
  1. Launch FreeFlight pro
  2. Press the name of the drone
  3. Firmware version is displayed in the general information

 A- From the app FreeFlight Pro


The app FreeFlight Pro can search new updates only if your smartphone has already been connected once to your Bebop Drone.

  1. Make sure your smartphone is connected to internet
  2. Launch the FreeFlight Pro application
  3. On the left side bar, press the "update" button
  4. Select the new update version and press Start. The update file is downloaded by the application.
  5. Connect your smartphone to the Bebop Drone's Wi-Fi network.
  6. Launch the FreeFlight Pro application again
  7. Press Check for updates: A pop-up asks you to install the update.
  8. Press OK and wait until the installation is completed. Bebop Drone reboots automatically.
  9. To check if the Bebop Drone is correctly updated, launch the FreeFlight Pro application. Press Fly & Film, then settings and The version number is displayed in the general information


 
B- With a microUSB/USB Flash drive

To update your Bebop Drone via USB, use: 
  • a micro-USB flash drive (not supplied)
  • or a USB flash drive with a female USB/micro-USB cable (not supplied)

Connect your USB flash drive to a computer. Make sure that your USB flash drive is formatted to FAT32 and not NTFS and that it has no other plf file. The procedure to format a USB flash drive to FAT32 depends on your operating system. Usually, you have to right-click on your USB flash drive.  Download the update file available in the red box located above. The .plf file is the update file you have to install on your Bebop Drone. It is important not to confuse it with a .pdf file opening in Adobe Reader. Move the update file to the root of your USB device. Do not place the update file in any directory. Do not rename the file.
Connect the USB or micro USB Flash drive to your Bebop Drone.
> The update starts automatically. Your Bebop Drone reboots automatically.
To confirm the Bebop Drone is correctly updated, launch the FreeFlight Pro application.
  • Press the name of the last connected drone
  • Version number is displayed in the general information
