Question How to reset the Parrot Disco?   Answer Quckly press the on/off button twice , then hold the button for about 10 seconds. > The on/off button flashes orange and red before the Parrot Disco shuts down. Switch on the Parrot Disco to complete the reset process. Use this process to reset the settings and erase the memory of the Parrot Disco. This process does not erase the firmware version installed on the drone.

Arduplane is an open source Autopilot. APM aims experimented users, who wish to use the Parrot Disco and C.H.U.C.K. for experimentation.   A Ardupilot version is integrated on the firmware 1.1.0 and above. To switch from Parrot Autopilot to APM, press shortly the ON/OFF buttons 3 times in a row. You can plan your flights using the in-app Flight Plan, available in in-app purchase on FreeFlight Pro. *Note that you need to create and load your flight plan before taking off.     Summary   Create a Flight Plan Fly with Flight Plan     Create a Flight Plan   1. Make sure your smartphone is connected to Internet and the GPS is on. 2. In FreeFlight Pro, select Flight Plan.   *Note: you can also launch Flight Plan from the main menu by tapping  .   3. At the PRODUCT CHOICE prompt, select Disco.    >A a satellite view of your area appears.             To see the satellite view in 3D, slide two fingers upwards.    When in 3D mode, the control interface disappears. To display the controls again, slide two fingers downward to return to the satellite view.   *Note: You need an Internet connection to display the satellite view. If you want to fly in an area without Internet connection, create and save your flight plan beforehand. **Note: Make sure your flight route is located in an area unobstructed by power lines, buildings, residences, and trees.     Plan a route   Place waypoints   Waypoints help you create a precise, autonomous flight plan using Disco’s GPS feature.   *Note: Before launching Flight Plan, make sure your smart devices are connected to the internet, and turn on GPS.   To place waypoints:   1. Tap on the map to create a waypoint. > The first waypoint appears. Waypoint bubbles are solid colored when first created.    2. Tap on the map again to create another waypoint. > A line connecting the two waypoints appears.   The number at the center of the waypoint bubble indicates the drone's altitude in flight. The upper right-hand number indicates the order in which the waypoints were made: #1 is the first waypoint, #2 is the second way point, and so on. The number over the connecting line indicates the distance between two waypoints. S is the starting point, and the circle around the first waypoint means the drone will orbit over the starting point after launch. 3. Continue to make waypoints until you are satisfied with the route.  To undo last action, tap     Plan for landing After you have mapped your flight, you need to tell the Parrot Disco where and how to land.     Linear landing This is the default landing pattern for the Parrot Disco, where the drone aligns itself with a "runway" and lands like a conventional aircraft.   To set linear landing:   1. Press and hold on the last waypoint until the blue dialog box opens.    2. Select LINEAR LANDING (default) and the landing funnel graphic appears over the last waypoint.   The landing funnel depicts the amount of distance the Parrot Disco needs to land.  If necessary, zoom out to see the entire flight plan, and move the cone-by dragging the E or L bubbles-to another position on the map. (E = End point, L = Landing point)       Circular landing   During circular landing, the Parrot Disco will circle over the end point and descends in a spiral pattern.   To set circular landing:   1. Press and hold on the E button after selecting linear landing. > The blue dialog box opens.    2. Select CIRCULAR LANDING.   > The landing funnel disappears.   3. Drag the E button to relocate the landing site. The circle surrounding the button signifies the landing pattern.  Circular landing requires an area of about  240 ft./80 m free of any obstacle all around.     Editing Waypoints After you have created your route, you can go back and change various parameters of each waypoint.     Change altitude There are two ways to change the altitude of the Parrot Disco in Flight Plan:   Using the vertical slider 1. Tap a waypoint; the bubble turns solid, the blue dialog box opens, and the vertical slider becomes active.   2. Slide the button up or down to adjust the drone’s altitude. *Note: the maximum altitude is limited to 492 feet.   Using the keypad 1. Press and hold a waypoint until the blue dialogue box opens. 2. Tap EDIT to open the “WAYPOINT” dialogue screen.   3. Enter a new altitude and then tap OK.   Insert a waypoint on a line   1. Press and hold anywhere on a line where you want to insert a waypoint, and the blue dialogue box opens (notice the arrow indicating the point of insertion).    2. Tap INSERT. > A new waypoint appears.       Saving a flight plan To save a new flight plan:   1. Tap     at the upper-right corner.    2. Tap Save as on the Saved flight plans screen.   3. Use the keypad to enter a name for your flight plan and then tap Save.     Open a saved flight plan Launch Flight Plan. Tap   At the Saved flight plans screen, tap the flight plan you want to open. Tap Open   Delete a flight plan Tap   At the Saved flight plans screen, tap the flight plan you want to delete, the selected file turns blue. Tap Delete.  When the dialogue box opens, select OK to confirm, or Cancel to return to the previous screen.     Fly with Flight Plan. Make sure your Flight Plan is created and loaded. Switch on the Parrot Disco. Wait until the light turns green, indicating the GPS location is fixed. Connect your smartphone to Parrot Disco and launch FreeFlight Pro. On the main screen, press Flight Plan. Press Start. Stand facing the wind and launch the Parrot Disco into the wind. The Parrot Disco makes its way to the first waypoint and orbits 3 revolutions before starting the route you have defined.

    Landing   General guidelines   Locate a suitable landing spot prior to take-off. Always make sure you are in an area with at least 240 ft/80 m of clearing on all sides to accommodate landing.     When you are ready to land   1. Maneuver the drone into the wind (against the wind), align it with your intended landing area and start your approach.   2. As the drone descends and gets closer to the landing area, if necessary, pull back on the left stick to reduce speed.   3. When the drone is between 20 to 30 ft.(5-10 m) off the ground, press    on the Skycontroller 2 to begin auto-landing.   *Note: direction control is still available during auto-landing. **Note: pressing     again will ABORT auto-landing if the drone is still more than 30 ft/10 m above ground.   4. Parrot Disco reverses thrust to reduce speed, noses up right before touch down and lands.    ***Note: avoid over-correcting the drone during the final stage of the auto-landing sequence.

For the best experience, use the combination of your smartphone and Parrot Skycontroller 2 to fly the Parrot Disco. Parrot Disco cannot be flown by using your smartphone alone.     STAY CLEAR OF THE MOTOR AREA AFTER TURNING ON PARROT DISCO! When not flying, disconnect battery to prevent accidental discharge.   Piloting modes   Auto-assist   Under auto-assist, Parrot Disco maintains its altitude and heading automatically, so you can enjoy the flying without having to worry about maintaining speed, adjusting control surfaces, etc.    And in case you let go of the stick momentarily, auto-assist ensures that Parrot Disco stays airborne.    Manual   This feature allows you to use an RC remote (not included) to fly the Parrot Disco. However, auto-assisted flying is not available in this mode.   *Note: in order to use a RC controller, you must first install a radio receiver (in Parrot Disco) specific to your controller.     Piloting configurations   There are three piloting configurations:   1.   Flying with Parrot Skycontroller 2 only. 2.   Flying with Parrot Skycontroller 2 and smartphone/tablet. 3.   Flying with Parrot Skycontroller 2, smartphone/tablet, and Parrot Cockpitglasses. Familiarize yourself with no. 1 and no. 2 before advancing to no. 3.     Piloting screen     Control methods   You can also customize the controls to your preference in FreeFlight Pro.     Flat trim   Flat trim resets the downward sensor to further enhance flight stability. It is recommended that you flat trim the drone prior to each flight and after a crash.   1.   Place Parrot Disco on a flat, dry surface. 2.   Press the On/Off switch to turn on the drone. 3.   On your smartphone, connect to Parrot Disco’s Wi-Fi ® : Disco_xxxxxx. 4.   In the FreeFlight Pro application, go to FLY&FILM > Setting > Position, then tap FLAT TRIM.     Take off     Disco must take off into the wind.   1.   Stand facing upwind and firmly hold the area near the nose/shoulder of the Parrot Disco with one hand.    2.  Make sure Parrot Disco’s propeller area is completely cleared of any obstacle.   3.  On Parrot Skycontroller 2, press the TAKE OFF button  . The motor runs slowly for 3 seconds before kicking into full power.   *Note: DO NOT LAUNCH until AFTER the motor fully accelerates. **Note: To stop the motor, press .   4.  A «Ready to take off» pop-up window is displayed on your smartphone. The drone is ready for take off.   5.  Holding the drone to your side, with the arm fully extended, gently toss Parrot Disco straight and upward (without twisting at the waist) into the wind. Parrot Disco climbs to an altitude of 150 feet (45 meters) and circles over its starting position in a 180-feet-diameter orbit (55 meters).   *Note: If the drone is not airborne within 10 seconds after powering on, the motor shuts off automatically .  Press   again to begin a new take-off sequence. **Note: DO NOT LAUNCH DISCO OVERHEAD!   6.  Once Parrot Disco is in stable orbit, you can take over the controls .     Return home   To recall Parrot Disco to its starting point, press the return button   on Parrot Skycontroller 2, or tap the Return Home icon     in FreeFlight Pro.   When Return Home is activated, Parrot Disco climbs (or descends) to 150 ft/50 m (default altitude) and heads for the starting position. Once there, Parrot Disco orbits overhead in a 180 ft/60 m-diameter circle at the same altitude.     Landing   Spiral   Once spiral/circular landing is initiated, Parrot Disco automatically turns into the wind to reduce landing speed on touchdown. 1.  Make sure you are in an area of at least 240 ft/80 m in diameter to accommodate the spiral pattern.   2.  Push the left control of the Parrot Skycontroller 2 to the left or to the right to set your Parrot Disco to loitering mode.  3.  On your Parrot Skycontroller 2 press    . >>Disco descends in a spiral and lands.   Linear     To land Parrot Disco in a straight-a-way fashion:   1.   Maneuver the Parrot Disco so it is flying into the wind. 2.   On Parrot Skycontroller 2, press LANDING   . >>Parrot Disco descends in a straight line, and just prior to touchdown, noses up to reduce speed and lands softly. *Note : you can still control the Parrot Disco during descent.   To abort landing, press again on Parrot Skycontroller 2. Parrot Disco climbs to loitering/standby height (50 m /150 feet) and begins circling overhead.     Flight Plan   With Flight Plan, you can pre-plan a flight by designating specific routes for Parrot Disco, and just sit back and enjoy the scenery as it soars through the air.   Flight Plan is available as an in-app purchase in FreeFlight Pro. *Note: You must create your flight plan before taking off. **Note: Parrot Disco still has to be launched MANUALLY.   Creating a Flight Plan   1.   Tap    to enable waypoint editing. 2.   On the map, tap where you want to place your first waypoint.       > A bubble with two numbers appears. The big number at the center is the altitude at which Parrot Disco will fly, and the smaller number represents the order of the waypoint. 3. Continue to place your waypoints. 4. Once you have drawn your path, press and hold the last point of your journey.     > A pop-up window appears. Select a landing mode (linear or spiral).      Spiral landing requires an area of at least 240 feet (80m) in diameter and free of obstacles. Your flight plan is created.   Flying with Flight Plan 1.   Make sure your flight plan is created and loaded. 2.   Turn on your Parrot Disco. 3.   Wait until the Parrot Disco’s warning light turns green, indicating the GPS is connected. 4.   Connect your smartphone to the Parrot Disco and start the FreeFlight Pro application. 5.   On the Home screen, press Flight Plan. 6.   Press Start. 7.   Stand facing upwind and launch Parrot Disco.       > The drone begins the course you set.   For more detail on Flight Plan, go to Flight Plan .

What happens when the drone reaches the limit of the Geofence?   Geofence is a virtual barrier that restricts the drone from flying out of a designated zone set up by the pilot via the FreeFlight Pro app.   When the Parrot Disco reaches the limit of the Geofence, Return-to-Home is triggered and the drone automatically navigates back to the starting point. Once there, the Parrot Disco initiates stand-by loitering mode and begins circling overhead. It is then possible to retake control of the drone and continue flying within the fixed Geofence limits.   3 settings are available for the Geofence : Maximum distance : from 200m to 2 km, the drone can't go beyond that distance and goes back on Return To Home mode. Maximum altitude : from 50 to 150 m, the drone won't go above that altitude. Minimum altitude : from 5 to 50m, the drone won't go under that altitude. Once the drone has reached the altitude limit defined by the Geofence it will: Won't go over the defined maximum altitude limit Not fly under the lowest altitude limit that has been set In this particular case, the Return to Home option is not engaged.   To activate GEOFENCE:   1.  Open FreeFlight Pro and go to FLY & FILM >Setting > Position.   2.  Tap GEOFENCE.

After you have charged the batteries and updated the software, you are ready to fly! For the best flying experience, use the combination of your smartphone and Parrot Skycontroller 2 to fly the Parrot Disco. (it cannot be flown by using your smartphone alone).   Make sure you are in an obstruction-free clearing (no trees, power lines, etc.) with at least 240 ft/80 m on all sides to accommodate launching, flying, and landing. If you are going too slow, lower the nose (right stick forward) to increase speed.   4.   Before touchdown, pull back on the nose. Parrot Disco lands softly.     Spiral   Once spiral/circular landing is initiated, Parrot Disco automatically turns into the wind to reduce landing speed on touchdown. 1.  Make sure you are in an area of at least 240 ft/80 m in diameter to accommodate the spiral pattern.   2.  Push the left control of the Parrot Skycontroller 2 to the left or to the right to set your Parrot Disco to loitering mode.  3.  On your Parrot Skycontroller 2 press . > Parrot Disco descends in a spiral pattern and lands.     Linear   To land Parrot Disco in a straight-a-way fashion:   1.   Maneuver the Parrot Disco so it is flying into the wind. 2.   On Parrot Skycontroller 2, press LANDING   . >Parrot Disco descends in a straight line, and just prior to touchdown, noses up to reduce speed and lands softly. *Note: you can still control the Parrot Disco during descent.   To abort landing, press again on Parrot Skycontroller 2. This could damage your phone.     Never look directly at the sun with empty Parrot Cockpitglasses. Permanent damage to your eyes may occur.     Using the Parrot Cockpitglasses with Parrot Skycontroller 2 For more detailed information on Parrot Cockpitglasses, go to FPV.   1. Make sure you have downloaded the free FreeFlight Pro app from the App Store ® or Google Play TM  to your smartphone or tablet.   2. Pull out the phone cradle.   3. Open the cradle   4. Pass your smartphone’s USB cable through the cradle's side opening.   5. Plug one end of your smartphone’s USB cable into the Parrot Skycontroller 2, and the other end into your smartphone.   6. Turn on Parrot Skycontroller 2, and open FreeFlight Pro, wait for the controller to connect to your phone.   7. Turn on Parrot Disco, wait for the drone to connect to your phone. > By default FPV mode is activated when the drone is connected, if not, tap   in the cockpit view window to turn it on.   8. Align the center line on the FPV display (on your smartphone) with the dotted line on the inside of the cradle cover. Make sure the smartphone is resting against the bottom edge of the cover before you close the cover.    9. Make sure the cradle is tightly closed before sliding it back into the goggle.  10. You can fly Parrot Bebop Drone, Parrot Bebop 2, and the Parrot Disco with Parrot Skycontroller 2. Before you do so, you must "pair" (connect) the drone and the controller.    Pairing speeds up the time it takes to connect various devices. Once the initial connection is established, the drone and the controller will connect automatically the next time when you want to fly.     Auto-pairing/connecting with your smartphone/tablet via FreeFlight Pro   *Note: when connecting, always follow this order : controller > smart device > drone.     1.  Connect the controller to your smartphone/tablet via a USB cable.   2.  Press the ON/OFF button on Parrot Skycontroller 2 to turn it on. > When the USB icon appears next to the Parrot Skycontroller 2 icon , connection is established. 3.  Press the ON/OFF button on the drone to turn it on.   4.  Wait until the status light on the controller is a steady green. Parrot Skycontroller 2 is connected to the drone.   *Note: when prompted to calibrate the controller, follow the on-screen instructions.     Manual-pairing/connecting with your smartphone/tablet via FreeFlight Pro   iOS   1.   Go to Settings    > Wi-Fi, under CHOOSE A NETWORK, select the name of your drone (for example, Disco-xxxxxx).   2.   Open FreeFlight Pro, at the main page, you should see the drone's status as connected.    If you do not see a connection, tap the Wi-Fi icon  and select the drone from the drop-down list.   Android   1.   Go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and select your drone (for example, Disco-xxxxxx).   2.   Open FreeFlight Pro, at the main page, you should see the drone's status as connected.   *Note: FreeFlight Pro interface is identical in both iOS and Android.     Connecting without a smartphone/tablet   You can fly the Parrot Bebop Drone, Parrot Bebop 2, and Parrot Disco with the Parrot Skycontroller 2 only. You need a smartphone or a tablet to access to any feedback on telemetry, radar, battery reserve, and other information.   1.  Press the ON/OFF button on Parrot Skycontroller 2 to turn it on. 2.  Press the ON/OFF button on the drone to turn it on.   3.  Wait until the status light on the controller is a steady green. Parrot Skycontroller 2 is connected to the drone.    *Note: we recommend that you fly with a smartdevice.

There is 2 boutons "Send Piloting" / "Share" .     The data sent via email is a json file. Using third party tools like Flight Data Manager permit to process data shared.

THE USE OF A RC CONTROLLER IS RECOMMENDED FOR EXPERIENCED RC PILOTS ONLY.   You can fly the Parrot Disco with a RC controller (not included); however, auto-assisted flying is not available in this mode.   *Note: in order to use a RC controller, you must first install a radio receiver (in Parrot Disco) specific to your controller.     Supported Protocols   Parrot Disco is compatible with most current RC controllers and handles the following protocols :   SBUS: Futaba T6K, T18SZ, T10J, FrSky Taranis X9D SUMD: Graupner MZ10, MX-16 CPPM     Install the receiver for your RC controller   1.   Open Parrot Disco’s cowling. 2.   Connect one of the cable to the C.H.U.C.K autopilot unit.    3.   Connect the other end to the receiver. 4.   Secure the receiver inside the cowling compartment. 5.   Close the cowling. Make sure the receiver's antenna is sticking out.     Connecting the RC controller to Parrot Disco   1.   Turn on the RC controller. 2.   Place Parrot Disco on a flat, dry surface. 3.   Turn on Parrot Disco. > When the on/off button is a steady green, Parrot Disco's GPS is connected.

Preflight check list   Prior to piloting your Parrot Disco, read the following guidelines and recommendations:   Regulation   Make sure operating model aircraft is allowed where you intend to fly. In some areas, it is prohibited to fly a drone near military bases, parks, cities and airports. Check local regulations prior to flying. You are required to keep visual contact with your drone at all times, do not fly your drone out of line of sight. Check local regulations regarding Wi-Fi and Wireless networks. Check local regulations regarding video recording, storage, and usage. Check the regulations on the use of FPV goggles when flying a drone.   Flight conditions check:   Do not fly at night. Check weather conditions. Do not fly the drone in rainy, snowy, or foggy environment. Do not fly in wind speeds exceeding 25 mph/43 kph. Do not fly over water. Make sure you have at least a 240 ft/80 m-diameter clearing for the Parrot Disco to take off and land, and that there are no obstacles in the area that could hinder or prevent line-of-sight flight.   Parrot Disco   Make sure the propeller is correctly and securely installed. Make sure the wings are properly secured (see the Attaching the wings section). Make sure both Parrot Disco’s battery and your smartphone battery are fully charged. Make sure the cowling is properly closed. Make sure Parrot Disco’s status light is green, indicating the drone has acquired the GPS signal prior to take off.     Connecting Parrot Disco to the Parrot Skycontroller 2 (without a smartphone)   1.  Place Parrot Disco on a flat, dry surface. 2.  Press the On/Off button to power on. > The button flashes red and turns green once GPS is connected. 3.  Press the On/Off button on Parrot Skycontroller 2 to turn it on.   4.  Wait until the status light is a steady green. Parrot Skycontroller 2 is now connected to Parrot Disco.   If the light continues to flash red, you need to calibrate the Parrot Disco.   To calibrate the Parrot Disco:   1.  In the FreeFlight Pro application, go to FLY & FILM > Settings     > Position > Calibrate and follow the instructions on the screen.    2.  Calibrate the pitot tube. To do so, turn your back to the wind and hold the Parrot Disco towards the ground.     3.  Rotate Parrot Disco on the Z-axis (yaw).   4.  Rotate Parrot Disco on the Y-axis (pitch).   5.  Rotate Parrot Disco on the X-axis (roll).   When the status light flashes green, the Parrot Disco is calibrated.     Connecting your smartphone to Parrot Disco and the Parrot Skycontroller 2   *Note: to minimize connection time, follow this order when connecting:  Smartphone > Parrot Skycontroller 2 > Confirm connection > Parrot Disco.      1.  Use a micro-USB cable to connect your smartphone to Parrot Skycontroller 2.   2. Turn on both devices and confirm the connection.   3.  Press the On/Off buttons on Parrot Disco to turn it on.   4.  Start FreeFlight Pro. The FPV mode is activated by default.          Installing the smartphone/tablet holder to Parrot Skycontroller 2   1.   Insert the holder into the designated slot on Parrot Skycontroller 2, then tighten the bolt.   You can change the holder's orientation by pushing down and rotating the bed. To extend the bed, push the side button.   2.   Position your smartphone/tablet on the holder and retract the extension to secure it.   3.   Connect your smartphone/tablet to the Parrot Skycontroller 2 via USB. FreeFlight Pro starts once the connection is established.

The Parrot Disco can be used in either photo mode or video mode.     At the piloting screen, tap the video icon    to access video/photo settings.   The video/photo settings page opens.   Video   At the video/photo settings page, you can choose to record video in 24, 25, or 30 FPS (frames-per-second) formats, in addition to choosing the streaming speed between 30 and 20 Mbps (megabytes-per-second).   Video recording starts automatically when you press the Take off button. The RECORD icon    flashes while recording video. To stop recording, press the button on the controller.  To record a new video, press  again.   Use your finger to move the red dial at the bottom of the screen to change exposure. Or use the scroll wheel R1 on your Parrot Skycontroller 2.   *Note: You cannot shoot videos and photos simultaneously   Photo   Parrot Disco offers 3 picture formats:   DNG (RAW) - This mode takes a raw fish-eye photo with a 180° FOV at a 4096×3072 pixels resolution in a DNG format. DNG is compatible with professional grade editing software such as Photoshop or Lightroom.   JPEG - JPEG mode takes a screen shot of the video stream at a 1920×1080 pixels resolution. The image quality is slightly degraded because video image stabilization tends to remove sharpness and accentuate edges. In this mode, you can quickly take pictures (shutter delay is very short) that are not distorted and with a light file size.   JPEG 180 - lets you take a fish eye shot with a 180° FOV. This mode offers small editing possibilities.   The default picture format is DNG.   Use your finger to move the red dial at the bottom of the screen to change exposure.   Taking photos   On your Parrot Skycontroller 2, press the   button to take a photo. The internal memory of the Parrot Disco has a capacity of 32 GB.  The maximum number of stored photos depends on the format selected. For best photo quality, we recommend leaving the photo setting in DNG mode.     Optimize video and photo qualities   Change exposure Use the FRONT-RIGHT ROTARY DIAL on Parrot Skycontroller 2 to change the brightness of the scene.     Change camera angle Use the FRONT-LEFT ROCKER SWITCH on Parrot Skycontroller 2 to change the camera angle.   Other settings that could help you further fine-tune the qualities of your photos and videos.            ANTIFLICKERING. Choose Select Auto, 50Hz, or 60 Hz to reduces the flickering effect often seen in videos shot indoors under florescent lighting. Select Auto to adapt the frequency of the country selected on the Network settings screen.   Select one of the following to adjust the white balance to best suit your environment.           Automatic         Daylight         Cloudy             White fluorescent light             Tungsten bulb     Retrieve photos and videos Photos and videos taken with Parrot Disco are saved in its internal memory. To download these pictures, do the following:   To a computer   1.   Use the supplied USB cable to connect the Parrot Disco to a computer.    2.   Turn on Parrot Disco.   3.   Look for Parrot_Disco on your computer.   4.   Double click on Parrot_Disco   5.   Go to Disco > Media, the list of picture files opens.   6.   Transfer the files to your computer.   To a smartphone   1.   Press the On/Off button to turn on Parrot Disco.   2.   Open FreeFlight Pro and make sure the Parrot Disco is connected to the smartphone.   3.   At FreeFlight Pro's main page, tap the camera icon     to open the "Drone memory" page and select the file you want to transfer or delete, then tap TRANSFER or DELETE.    4.   Once you tap TRANSFER, the process begins automatically . To cancel, tap "Cancel" on the top-right corner.     5.   Once transfer is complete, at the prompt, choose to keep the photos or delete them, then tap     at the "Drone memory" page to go back to the main FreeFlight Pro page.
