Connecting to WiFi Follow the steps below to connect with your mobile device: Turn your mobile device's Wi-Fi OFF, then ON. Turn your drone OFF, then ON. Look for the drone's designation in the Wi-Fi setting of the mobile device. (For example: Jett_003158). *Note: Eliminate all potential sources of Wi-Fi interference by powering down all non-essential devices with wireless capabilities. >> If the drone is not detected you can force the change of bandwidth (between 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) by pressing the power button for 6 seconds. Then refresh the Wi-Fi networks on your smart device, the drone's network will appear. Updating software Via Wi-Fi Follow the above steps to connect Jumping Night to your smart device via Wi-Fi. Open FreeFlight Jumping, go to > Check for updates. Follow the on-screen direction to download updates. Via USB 1. Insert a battery into the Jumping Night and wait until the lights (eyes) turn green. 2. Connect the drone to your computer using a USB/micro-USB cable (provided). 3. Go to Jumping Night's page at https://community.stage.parrot.com/t5/Jumping-Night-Drone-Knowledge/tkb-p/Jumping_night@tkb. 4. Under DOWNLOADS, click Software Update to download the update file. Do not rename the file. 5. Drag and drop the update file into Jumping Night as though it were a USB Flash drive. The update file must be placed at the root of the drone and not in a folder. > The lights flash orange while the update file is being transferred. > Once the transfer is complete, the lights turn green. 6. Safely remove and disconnect Jumping Night from your computer. > Installation begins. The lights alternately flash orange with increasing rapidity. Do not remove the battery while the update installation is in progress. 7. When the lights turn green, the installation is completed. Update failed If you are unable to complete the update using either Wi-Fi or USB, you may need to reset the drone to reinitialize the software. Insert a fully charged battery and wait for the lights to turn green. Press and hold the power button down for 10 seconds (minimum) to reset the drone. This will clear all current settings and stored media on the drone. Repeat the steps in Updating software once the drone completes booting. My drone won't jump First, make sure there is enough battery power (at least 50%). Jumping Night cannot perform a jump with a low battery or if the device has been picked up (off the ground) recently. If the drone is making clicking/popping sounds while charging up for a jump, that could mean the jump mechanism is damaged or broken, which could have resulted from long drops or falling on hard surfaces. You can either choose to do the repair yourself or contact customer support for part/product replacement under warranty (within one-year of purchase). To check the current version of your drone, do the following: Power on your drone, wait for the LED “eyes” to turn green. In FreeFlight Jumping, go to > Settings, swipe the screen to access the INFORMATION page to see software versions. Follow the above Updating software section to update the drone if necessary. If the problem persists after updating both FreeFlight Jumping and Jumping Night, follow the steps in Update failed to reset the drone. Cannot capture, review, or transfer media from my drone First, make sure the drone's internal memory is not full, if it is, you cannot take additional photos and/or videos until more spaces are freed by deleting or transfer files off storage. To access Jumping Night's internal memory, do the following: Power on the drone, wait for the LED “eyes” to turn green. In FreeFlight Jumping, tap > Internal Memory. A list of photos and videos opens. Tap on the file(s) you want to transfer/delete, then tap TRANSFER or DELETE at the bottom of the page. At the prompt, tap OK to transfer, or tap CANCEL to go back to the previous page. If you are still unable to capture or record images with the camera, follow the steps in Update failed to do a hard rest of the drone. *Note: a hard rest will clear all stored media and return all settings to default. Trouble with steaming video If you are experiencing video lag while piloting your Jumping Night, try the following: Forget the connection. Then re-establish connection with the drone through your mobile device's Wi-Fi settings. Make sure that the drone is connected over a minimally obstructed Wi-Fi channel using the built-in network analyzer from settings. Try connecting from another device. If video lag is still present on multiple devices, chances are that the network settings within FreeFlight Jumping application need to be modified for best results. I have to tilt my phone/tablet at a steep angle to turn the drone In Max Rotation, change the value to high so only a slight tilt of your smart device will be sufficient to turn the drone. If this value is low, the smartphone/tablet will need to be tilted significantly in order to turn the drone.
FreeFlight Mini replaces FreeFlight 3 for Mambo, Swing, Airborne Cargo, Night, Hydrofoil, and Rolling Spider. For Jumping drones, download FreeFlight Jumping. For Airborne, Hydrofoil and Rolling Spider MiniDrones, download FreeFlight Mini for iOS and Android devices. The following applies to all Jumping MiniDrones: Night, Race, Sumo. Main Screen 1. Press for access to information such as check for updates, internal memory, and settings. 2. Tap START to open piloting screen. 3. Register /sign-in for Drone Academy / Parrot Cloud. 4. Settings Tap to access SETTINGS. Tap See details to access information such as product serial number, Wi-Fi status, and software/hardware versions. Media Settings Adjust volume of the drone's speaker and turn AUTORECORD on/off. Piloting Settings Max rotation sets the maximum rotation speed of the Jumping MiniDrone. A low value means you need to tilt your smartphone more to turn the drone left or right. A high value means only a slight tilt is needed. Speed Settings Max speed sets the maximum speed of the Jumping MiniDrone. Speed neutral zone sets the vertical slider sensitivity. A low value means you only need to move the slider slightly to move the drone forward or backward; a high value means you need to move the slider more to drive the drone. CHARGE SETTINGS Charge settings records the last charge type, the current capacity, and the remaining time until the next charge. NETWORK SETTINGS Product name This is your MiniDrone's network designation; to change it, click the field and enter a new name. Reboot the drone when you're finished. *Note: The network name can only contain letters, numbers and underscores ("_"), and must not exceed 32 characters in length. Select country Select your country/region from the drop-down list. Wi-Fi Channel Connect the Bebop 2 to either the 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands. 2.4 GHz lets you control the drone from a greater distance. It is generally more congested than the 5 GHz band in urban areas. 5 GHz gives you a better quality connection between the MiniDrone and your smartphone for video streaming. Check your smartphone user guide to see whether it supports 5 GHz. If not, use 2.4 GHz instead. **Note: The diagram at the bottom of the screen shows the state of the Wi-Fi channels. Red curves represent congested channels. Green curves represent less congested channels. Channels without curves are free. INFORMATION The information page displays the current firmware versions of FreeFlight Jumping and the MIniDrone, as well as the drone's hardware version. GPS connection status is also shown here.
Installing, maintaining, and storing the battery Installing the battery Insert the battery (label side face down) into the battery compartment (photos A and B). The direction the triangle is pointing shows which way the battery should be inserted. Maintaining the battery Make sure the battery housing is intact and the terminal is clean. STOP using the battery IMMEDIATELY if the housing is cracked, punctured, or enlarged. Dispose of any discarded battery in compliance with your local safety regulations. Storing the battery Store the battery away from direct sunlight in a cool and dry place where the ambient temperature is below 140°F (60°C). If you plan on not playing with your Jumping Night drone often, run the battery to 50% capacity before storing.
